The winegrower (vignaiolo) is the guardian of his own terroir. He tends to his vineyard, he harvests the grapes, makes his own wine and bottles it in his own winery, he then sells it himself.
He strives to perfect his craft being observant of traditions. He welcomes guests and takes pleasure in offering the fruit of his labour, giving advice in wine tasting whilst promoting the cultural values that infuse it.
